How To Remove Security Tool

Feb 10, 2011

Security Tool, or SecurityTool, is a fresh, sleek looking piece of software with glitter and stars that promises to protect and clean your computer. Guess what? It’s a fake! The same hackers who brought you the menacing Total Security 2009 virus and System Security scamware have a new, nasty tool to infect your computer and steal away your security and safety.

THIS VIRUS MAY BLOCK YOUR PROGRAMS FROM OPENING!: If you are unable to run any removal programs, such as Spyware Doctor, or even access your Task Manager due to this virus, then you must try to boot in safe mode or you must try the blocked task manager fix. You should then be able to run a scanner after following either or both pieces of advice.

If you can’t open the Internet or run Spyware Doctor:

  1. Download Spyware Doctor and save it to your Desktop. (If you are unable to download anything, then bookmark this page and skip to step 3.)
  2. Rename the downloaded file to “iexplore.exe
  3. Restart your computer in Safe Mode with Networking (tap F8 while computer is starting up)
  4. Launch Internet Explorer, click on Tools then Internet Options
  5. Click on Connections and then LAN Options
  6. Uncheck the box “Use a Proxy Server for your LAN” and hit OK
  7. Launch iexplorer.exe (The renamed Spyware Doctor file)
  8. Update Malware Definitions and click Scan
  9. Click the Fixed Checked button and Remove Security Suite

There are two methods. The manual way and the automatic way. Note: In any Security Tool files I mention above, “%UserProfile%” is a variable referring to your current user’s profile folder. If you’re using Windows NT/2000/XP, by default this is “C:\Documents and Settings\[CURRENT USER]” (e.g., “C:\Documents and Settings\JoeSmith”). Automatic Removal. It’s What I Choose.

The risks of manual removal make automatic removal an easy decision for me. I don’t have enough time in the day to manually remove every infection that I come across; it’s way too time consuming, and risky. It’s easy to miss a file if you’re not careful, and it’s easy to adjust the wrong file and be left with a paperweight for a computer.

  1. The virus “Security Tool” has embedded itself so deep in my computer it has apparently breeched my security and firewall and it won’t let me download any AV/AS protection software. Can you please help and re-advise how I can get rid of it with that in mind ? Please communicate in layman’s terms as I am not the most computer literate or savvy.

(Have you tried booting in Safe Mode? If this doesn’t work you may have to download the software on another computer, rip the software to a USB stick or CD drive, and install in Safe Mode with Networking Disabled.)

  4. Bladimir /

i need help cant do enthing with this

  5. That bitch security tool o the people that created this will get sewed THIS I SWEAR X X X

  6. I want you to add to please be very aware of fake news sites. I was looking for news on the 33 trapped miners in chile one day. I clicked on the 4th link on the first page of a Google search. It looked like a legitimate news site. Instead Security Tool popped up (after installing itself). This was a month ago. Despite finally disabling it, it left it’s damage. I lost years of work and my hard drive is unrecoverable. I would very much like to see the programmer of the trojan or the company who created it to be charged to the fullest extent of the law and work to pay off the damages for the rest of their miserable lives. I will never ever understand the mentality behind such maliciousness. If you want to make a lot of money… fine. But, how can you cripple someone or destroy years of their work just for your own useless gain. These people are true sociopaths. Absolutely no sympathy for the victims. Some day however they will run into one of their own victims and it will be the wrong person to mess with. Some get violent… others use all powers of the law.

Security tool is a pile of cr*p. After i’d installed it, I could’nt start internet, or download something to delete it.

  8. In a way I was lucky because most of my important work was on my memory stick or my Sixth Form account. Thankfully when we removed Security Tool, nothing was deleted. At least now I’m protected by Kaspersky.

My Kaspersky runs out in Feb, so hopefully this won’t come back and give me consequences like you had.
