Windows 7 Faster Bootup – How to Make Windows 7 Boot Up Faster

Windows 7 Faster Bootup – How to Make Windows 7 Boot Up Faster

Feb 17, 2011

Windows 7 is a fast operating system that was designed by Microsoft to boot up quickly, without issues. If it’s taking a long time for your version to start up, then your PC is probably suffering from system errors or corrupt files that affect the loading speed of Windows. You could be suffering from booting errors, damaged system files, or you may have installed a driver that is incorrect or is burning Window’s resources. There are lots of possible reasons why your system is not running correctly. What Causes Windows To Boot Up Slowly? Windows boots slowly because its resources are being used up by either software you have installed, malware that you didn’t know you installed, registry corruption, faulty drivers, or start-up programs that should be disabled, to name a few. Some additional possibilities for Windows performing slowly are: – File indexing has been enabled – Corrupt registry values – Missing files or drivers How To Make Windows 7 Boot Up Faster Step 1 – Get Rid of Programs You Don’t Use This is usually the first step most people take when their PCs are running slowly. They delete big programs and files. That’s a good idea, because a clogged up Hard Drive will most definitely cause your PC to run slow. The best way to un-install software that you don’t need is to: – Click Start – Locate Control Panel – Select Add/Remove Programs – Click the “Uninstall” button next to the programs you want to remove. Step 2 – Install Recommended Windows Updates To ensure that your PC is updated, install the latest updates and fixes offered by Microsoft. These “hotfixes” are regularly released, usually around once or twice per month, and can protect you from errors and registry corruption. To update Windows, click Start > All Programs > Windows Update – and select all updates that are available for your PC. Once the updates are installed, you will need to restart your PC for changes to take effect. Step 3 – Disable “File Indexing” Some Windows users like to use a service called “File Indexing” which shows them where every file is stored on the hard drive with ease. The problem...

How to Get Rid of Trojan Horse Virus

If you’re familiar with your Greek history, then you know about the Trojan Horse that was used to win a classic war. Soldiers constructed a giant horse made of wood, and delivered it as a gift to their enemies. The horse was wheeled into the confines of the city, and once nightfall arrived, the soldiers leaped from the horse and destroyed the city of Troy, tricking everyone in the process. In current day, a Trojan Horse Virus is a package or file that appears as legitimate, but when installed, unleashes malware, spyware, rootkits, or keyloggers onto your system, setting you up for an unusable computer or identity theft. For these reasons, viruses that are classified as ‘Trojan’ are highly dangerous. We must get rid of Trojan Horse Viruses quickly, before they have the time to fester and infect our PCs.   How Did I Get This Virus on My Computer?   Infection could have happened a number of ways. Most commonly infected downloads, e-mail messages, phishing, spoofing, and codecs can all lead to fradulent files being stored on your computer. If you have a scanner running 24/7 then you won’t have to worry about the files you download, but without one, you have to be extra careful of what sites you visit and what you choose to download. Once you have the Trojan Horse Virus, it can be difficult to get rid of, and depending on the amount of time and energy you have, you will likely decide among 2 popular options.   How Do I Get Rid of Trojan Horse Virus?   There are plenty of ways to remove viruses, Trojan Horse or otherwise. I recommend a few automatic removal tools myself. These tools seek out the Trojan Horse Virus as well as all other nasty malware hiding in your system. Best of all, the programs I use protect the user in the future with an active scanner. The other option is to bring your PC to a technician, but you will end up spending more money and more time.   There are tools that specialize these viruses and will get rid of the trojan horse virus for you in minutes. I recommend...

How to Fix Can’t Open Task Manager

How to Fix Can’t Open Task Manager

Dec 28, 2009

Many of the newer Spyware Infections are more and more difficult to get rid of because they block the Task Manager and other exe files, including the antivirus scanners available on sites like this one. This poses a problem, because how is a user supposed to clean out his or her computer if she can’t open the cleaning tool? Times like this are when you have to get a little bit crafty, but I will give you clear instructions how you too can fix a blocked task manager, and will be able to open it so that you can momentarily stop the virus ‘process’ from running. NOTE: Before you try this method, please try to boot your computer in SAFE MODE and see if you are able to open up your programs or task manager. If you have no success, then move on to these task manager instructions. Step 1 Open up C:\WINDOWS\System32 and look for the file named taskmgr. Step 2 Make a copy of taskmgr by first clicking on it to highlight it and then press CTRL + C and then CTRL + V. Once this is down you will have a new file named taskmgr - Copy. Step 3 Rename taskmgr - Copy to explorer.exe by right-clicking on it and choosing “Rename.” Step 4 Double-click on the explorer.exe file and the task manager will run without being shutdown. With the ability to kill processes, you can now kill the associated spyware file and begin either manual or automatic spyware removal. I highly recommend automatic spyware removal because it is quick and safe. SCAN YOUR PC, ENSURE YOUR...
